Belle Vue Mills: Weaving a New Future for a Skipton Landmark

Belle Vue Mills is woven into the very fabric of Skipton’s story

Born in the 1830s as a bustling cotton mill, it was a place of immense pride and industry, renowned for its famous Sylko Cotton Thread and the vibrant community that thrived within its walls. We saw the spirit of this Grade II listed landmark and envisioned a future that honoured its rich heritage. Our role was not just to preserve these buildings, but to reawaken them, creating a new, thriving mixed-use community for Skipton.

A New Chapter for a Skipton Landmark

Our comprehensive regeneration has thoughtfully transformed the entire complex, ensuring it once again plays a vital role in the town’s life.

A Hub for Local Enterprise: We have created high-quality office spaces that are now home to key local employers, including Craven District Council and North Yorkshire County Council, securing the site’s importance for the local economy.

The Cotton Mill Apartments: The historic east wing has been sensitively reborn into a collection of stunning, high-quality apartments and exclusive loft-style homes, carefully preserving unique character features from the mill’s industrial past.

Artistic Storytelling: To bring the building’s new chapter to life, we collaborated with the award-winning illustrator Tom Duxbury. His work, inspired by the surrounding Dales and the site’s heritage, is woven into the interiors, connecting the past with the present.

Today, Belle Vue Mills is alive once more

It stands as a testament to our commitment to creating distinctive places with personality and atmosphere, a vibrant community where people can live and work. By blending careful restoration with creative vision, we have ensured this hugely significant piece of Skipton’s history will be cherished for generations to come.
