This project is a successful example of true public and private sector collaboration.
At Quarry Hill, south of the city’s bus station, we saw the opportunity to deliver an innovative solution that would meet the needs of two key cultural institutions. Our vision was to redevelop this site to provide a new regional headquarters for the BBC, alongside a state-of-the-art auditorium for the Leeds College of Music.
A Landmark Cultural Hub
Adopting a contemporary approach, this modern and distinctive building has added significantly to the city’s townscape while meeting the specific economic and functional requirements of its users.
The development includes the regional headquarters for the BBC and a 350-seat auditorium for the Leeds College of Music.
A new public space is flanked by a stunning and award-winning sculpture by Walter Jack, with a restaurant at the ground level providing an active backdrop.
This project stands as a benchmark for successful partnership, delivering an innovative solution for the requirements of the college and a new landmark for the city.
It demonstrates our commitment to creating high-quality, purposeful buildings that enhance the cultural fabric of their surroundings.
